Hawaii Island's Best Beaches

For the Best Green Sand Beach on the Big Island you need to visit Papakolea Beach in Kae Li. Made green by the semi-precious stone of volcanic origin, this beach is one of the most unique in the world. It's not easy to get to but it is worth it reward at the end.
Hilo Beaches
Onekahakaha Beach Park: You’ll get awesome views of Hilo Bay at this beach park that is close to Hilo airport. It has a great sandy bottom that is not bad for family snorkeling. A great place to sunbather and splash around.
Lelewi Beach Park: This is the probably the most popular snorkeling spot in the east side of the island. It fronts Richardson Ocean Center which has picnic areas, parking, showers and restrooms.
Kona Beaches
Kahaluu Beach: If you're staying in Kailua Village in Kailua-Kona, then this is the spot for you. It is a beach that is known for Honu (Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles) and is a great snorkelling spot.
Laalao Beach: Lifeguards on duty and a great place to swim, body-board and body-surf. It sometimes disappears and then reappears due to strong surf and tidal shifts.
Kohala Coast Beaches
Anehoomalu Beach: Next to the Waikola Beach Marriot, this is a perfect beach to rent a kayak and spend a day paddling around. It's a great place for snorkelling and scuba.
Hapuna Beach: This is the largest white sand beach on the Big Island. Connected the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, this is a world-renowned spot for tourists and locals.
