When you think of Holidays to Hawaii, then you think sunbathing, snorkelling, paddle boarding and surfing. Maybe even a little kayaking. There is one key element that is crucial to all of that, though: Beaches.
There are awesome beaches everywhere you go on the Hawaiian Islands. Which island has the best beaches is always a source of contention with locals and tourists. However, if you're going on holiday in Maui then you can rest assured that you are going to awesome beaches. And maybe even the BEST in Hawaii.
Kapalua Beach: There are two outstretched, lava rock outcrops that protect this beach from any hard waves or surf. It's a pleasure just to wade in the ocean water and watch the softly, swaying breezes. Or you can paddle board, kayak and snorkel to your heart's delight. There are restrooms, showers and lifeguards available.
Kaanapli Beach: This is four miles of a beautiful sandy crescent. You can actually reach many hotels, condos and even the Whalers Village Shopping Center via paved walks. The sand and beach go as far as the eye can see. If you are looking for a great snorkelling opportunity, locate the Sheraton Resort. In the water in front of the hotel is an area known as Black Rock - this area offers fantastic snorkelling right off the beach
D.T. Fleming Beach Park: This beach starts at the 16th hole of the Kapalua Golf Course. When the surf is low the beach is good enough for snorkeling and, however sometimes the surf picks up and you can actually see some surfing or body-boarding taking place.
Hamoa Beach: This is a really unique beach of the gray sand which get its colour from a mixture of lava and coral. It is half-moon shaped and is a favorite among locals and visitors for sunbathing, snorkelling and scuba. It is not a long beach at 900ft but it sits below black lava cliffs that extend 30 feet into the air.
Wailea Beach: Another beach that is protected by lava outcrops and is actually one of 5 beaches that lie within the Wailea Resort. The best thing about Wailea Beach is the view of the ocean. You get Lanai, Kahoolawe and a tiny hint of Molokini as you gaze on the beautiful surf.
So, there you have it. Those are our choice of the best beaches that Maui has to offer and that you should visit once during your Hawaii holiday on Maui. For other great Maui beaches, check out: Waianapanapa State Park and Makena Beach!
