McGregor Point
Located on the Honoapiilani Highway just before the tunnel heading towards Lahaina, McGregor Point is one of Maui's best-known roadside whale watching locations. Pull over safely near mile marker 9 to enjoy sweeping views across the channel.
Wailea Coastal Walk
The Wailea Coastal Walk offers excellent shoreline viewing during whale season. The Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary has previously installed public viewing equipment here, making it a popular place to stop and scan the ocean.
Olowalu Reef
The coastline around Olowalu provides another fantastic vantage point for spotting whales as they travel through the channel. If you stop here, always park safely and well away from the road before making your way to the shoreline.
Puʻu Olai
Overlooking Makena Beach, Puʻu Olai rewards those willing to make the climb with panoramic coastal views. From here you may be able to spot whales moving through the waters between Maui, Molokini Crater and nearby islands during the peak migration season.
